My Story

Angelique Caplette is a Canadian photographer whose work explores themes of memory, identity, and human connection through a distinctly cinematic lens. Her artistic journey began at the age of 17, when an analog Canon AE1 gifted by a friend ignited her fascination with film photography. Early experiments with capturing the vitality of her peers soon led to her first group exhibition by the age of 21, marking the beginning of a lifelong engagement with visual storytelling.

After relocating to Toronto, Caplette built a vibrant career as an editorial and media photographer, with her images published in more than 30 magazines and featured in a fine-art coffee table book. While these achievements expanded her reach, her practice has always remained rooted in the creation of work that transcends documentation—images that invite reflection and spark dialogue.

Her photographs often balance intimacy with theatricality, transforming personal encounters and ordinary spaces into evocative narratives. Blurring the boundaries between editorial polish and fine art sensibility, Caplette creates images that feel at once immediate and timeless.

She is currently developing new bodies of work for upcoming exhibitions, expanding her exploration of the interplay between lived experience and collective memory. Past projects continue to resonate with collectors and audiences alike, underscoring her ability to capture fleeting moments with enduring significance.

Through a practice that is both intuitive and intentional, Angelique Caplette offers a body of work that not only reflects her own artistic evolution but also invites viewers to consider their place within the stories her photographs tell.
